The John Strasser  and Mary Zimmerman Family

     Did you know that John Strasser and his wife Mary (Zimmerman) moved to Indiana from Pennsylvania in 1866? They had 10 or 11 children; Simon, Rebecca, Sarah, William, Anna, Lena, Barbara, Elizabeth, John and Maria. All of whom were born in Pennsylvania.

     We know that William, Barbara, Elizabeth and John either came to Indiana with their parents or joined them here. William, Barbara and Elizabeth all married members of the Bishop family. John married Ida Girard.

     We (Jack and I) trace our Strasser Ancestors back to John and Mary through Clay Floyd Sr., Harry William and William E. Strasser. We have met a few of William’s brother John’s descendants. They still live around Burnnettsville and we had a great time talking with them.

     William’s son Charles Milton (our great grandfather Harry’s brother) had a large family and many of them still reside around the Monticello/Logansport area. So, if your Strasser Family lived in the central part of the northern half of Indiana we are probably related.

We will try to feature one family and one ancestor tree in each news letter.

Way back when?

   A lot of years have passed since our first Indiana ancestor John was born and his children played as they were growing up. A lot of things are still the same. Children are born and as they grow up they have their favorite toys. Today the kids have their TV and computers to occupy their time. You probably had different things to play with and occupy your time, when you were not in the garden or helping out with some other chore. Were any of your toys home made or were they store bought? Let us know what some of the toys  that you played with were Way back when!
